about me

I’m Emily, a birth keeper and post natal doula devoted to supporting women who are planning to birth at home.

I live in Harpenden, Hertfordshire with my husband and 3 children and can support women and families across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, North & North West London and Essex.

I believe deeply in women’s bodies and in the innate physiological design of birth. It is a mammalian wisdom we all have within us and to understand this fully is to trust it rather than to fear it.

In most cases, birth unfolds beautifully when supported and protected rather than being managed. Importantly when a woman feels safe, undisturbed and in her own space, we see the best outcomes for both mum and baby with birth unfolding just so.

Home birth supports this optimally and I am here to walk with you on the journey from planning and preparing, during labour and in the all important post natal period too.

I am passionate that the mother should be central, supported and honoured throughout this time and that a calm and positive pregnancy, birth experience and post natal period should be the minimum standard of care we uphold for both the happiness and wellbeing of mum and baby. Both mothers and their babies deserve it to be this way.

I have felt the call to birth work for a very long time. It is something I feel deep within my bones; to tend to and walk with women during this rite of passage to meet your baby.

Following 3 vaginal births, 2 of them undisturbed in my home I have first hand experience as well as my doula training which I completed in 2025 with Samsara, Grandmother Birthkeeper from Conscience Birthing and an extended Ancestral Birth Keeping course, Vessel, owned and run by Bec Oakaiah, Holistic Mother & Traditional Birth Keeper during 2026.

My trainings have covered everything from “Her Story”, the history of birth through the ages and its medicalisation, preparing to conceive, nourishment, physiology of pregnancy and birth including the nervous system, hormones and somatics and how to nurture and support integration post partum with holistic remedies and herbs too.

I am currently training to be a Yoga Teacher so can bring supportive movement, bodywork, mindfulness and mediation to our time together as well as my knowledge on anatomy and optimal breathing.

For more information on what I can offer please visit the “working with me” page or reach out to me via the contacts page to arrange a call.
